Artist Statement

Is how we see things what we have been taught since birth, or is there something else to reality? I use artistic language in an attempt to open up the field of perception. Get to the essence of things. Not imitating those worlds we think we see, I use colors in painting or word forms in poetry. These two means of expression working together are helpful in reaching my goal of distillation. Synesthesia confirms the relationship between color and sound, says each color resonates with a partnering musical scale. Hearing the color I paint and writing poetry in a rainbow of color vibration contributes to my work.
