Abstract Expressions in Oil

It's been a fun week and we have been experimenting with abstracts in oil! I have always been highly drawn to abstract expressionists and colour field paintings. As we have been working though our assignments, I have often found myself with left over paint, and felt the need to find a way to incorporate it further into my practice. My solution has been to use this leftover paint to create bold expressions of colour. I have used a dry brush to create a soft blending effect. Below we have a 16x20 piece titled "Expression 2". Moving forward, what I would like to focus on would be to create these pieces as large scale works. I am looking forward to creating more expression paintings in the future.
